Ambassador of the Netherlands Robert Jan Segert called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Friday.
The meeting discussed in detail a string of issues including trade, investment, agriculture, water management, climate change, technological cooperation and promotion of people-to-people contacts.
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her best wishes on the recent appointment of Ambassador of the Netherlands Robert Jan Segert to Pakistan.
In the meeting, it was agreed to increase Dutch cooperation in higher educational institutions, technical training, water management education and research.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif described the presence of Dutch companies in Pakistan as a confidence of investors and also encouraged.
Maryam Nawaz appreciated the global reputation of Dutch experts in water governance and flood management.
Talking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said the introductory visit of Ambassador of the Netherlands Robert Jan Segert is a sign of moving forward in a positive direction of mutual relations.
She said the mutual relations between Pakistan and the Netherlands are based on common development goals.
Punjab is keen to further enhance Pak-Netherlands cooperation at the provincial level, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said the Netherlands is Pakistan’s second largest European trading partner and Punjab provides a conducive environment for investors.
The Netherlands’ agricultural and food technology expertise is in line with Punjab’s development goals and agricultural strategy, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawaz said the Netherlands’ partnership for improved potato production can revolutionize.
Projects like the Netherlands’ Room for the River are an example for the world and Punjab is keen on comprehensive cooperation in this regard, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawaz said Dutch cooperation can be beneficial in major projects like Suthra Punjab, Smart Irrigation and Climate Resilient Agriculture.
We want to promote strong ties and joint research programs with Dutch universities, Maryam Nawaz said.
The participation of Dutch business delegations in Pakistan’s trade fairs TEXPO and FoodAg is encouraging, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed desire to restore direct air connectivity.
Promoting relations with the Netherlands will give a new dimension to business, investment and tourism, Maryam Nawaz said.
Punjab seeks a broad and strong economic partnership with the Netherlands, Maryam Nawaz said.
She said the Netherlands is a global example in innovation, agricultural technology and sustainable development.
