Nepra imposes Rs100 million fine on Lesco

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) imposed over Rs100 million fine on Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and other electric distribution companies due to over-billing and electrocution incidents, it was reported on Friday.

According to details, different incidents of electrocution occurred during the last two years while working on LESCO grid stations, in which citizens and employees lost their lives.

Nepra imposed a fine for the violations of safety measures and non-completion of earthing.

LESCO was fined Rs 25 million for not responding promptly after being issued a show-cause notice for overbilling.

Lesco also filed a petition to review the fines in Nepra.

Nepra also issued a written order in this regard.
