The Punjab government has approved a joint security cooperation agreement between Pakistan and the United States aimed at tracing and arresting absconding suspects involved in serious and transnational crimes.
The provincial government and security agencies will provide full cooperation to the Ministry of Interior under the agreement.
This includes sharing intelligence and relevant information with US authorities to help identify and apprehend fugitive criminals.
As part of the initiative, the Punjab Police and the Counter Terrorism Department will conduct joint operations targeting individuals involved in fake identity networks, human smuggling, and other serious criminal offences.
The agreement also envisages a province-wide crackdown on wanted and absconding individuals believed to be hiding in Punjab.
Officials said the initiative forms part of a broader Pakistan-US collaboration against international crime.
To strengthen coordination and enforcement, a special task force will also be established in Pakistan to oversee and implement the joint security measures.
