Govt issues health advisory as influenza cases rise

A rise in influenza cases has prompted health authorities to issue an advisory for hospitals in Lahore. The guidelines aim to control the spread of infection and protect vulnerable groups as flu activity intensifies.

Health officials have reported a noticeable increase in influenza cases in Lahore. In response, an advisory has been issued to hospitals to ensure early detection and effective management of patients showing flu-like symptoms.

The move is intended to prevent further spread within healthcare facilities and the wider community.

Isolate influenza patients

Under the advisory, hospitals have been instructed to isolate patients based on influenza-related symptoms. Early isolation is expected to reduce the risk of transmission to other patients and healthcare staff.

Authorities emphasized that symptom-based separation should be strictly implemented in all healthcare settings.

Hospitals have also been directed to conduct tests for patients suspected of having influenza. Timely testing will help confirm cases and allow for appropriate treatment measures.

Health officials say early diagnosis is critical to managing complications and limiting outbreaks.

Influenza vaccination

The advisory stresses the importance of influenza vaccination. Health authorities have urged eligible individuals to get vaccinated to reduce the severity and spread of the virus.

Vaccination is described as a key preventive measure, especially during periods of rising infections.

According to the advisory, children under two years of age and adults over 65 are more likely to be affected by influenza. These age groups are advised to take extra precautions during the current surge.

Pregnant women and people with pre-existing diseases have also been identified as high-risk groups. Health officials recommend early medical consultation if symptoms appear.
