NAB, Nigeria’s EFCC Sign MoU to strengthen cooperation against corruption

Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday signed an important agreement to enhance cooperation in the fight against corruption and financial crimes.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Doha, Qatar, by Chairman NAB Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed and Executive Chairman of EFCC, Nigeria, Mr Aulani Pekone Olukwode.

Under the agreement, Pakistan and Nigeria have committed to work jointly to combat corruption and financial crimes, particularly those with cross-border dimensions. The MoU aims to strengthen investigative and prosecution capabilities through information sharing, technical cooperation and mutual assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, NAB Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed said ensuring accountability and transparency at the global level was a top priority. He described the agreement as a significant step forward in international cooperation to eradicate cross-border corruption.

He added that the understanding between the two anti-corruption bodies would help remove jurisdictional barriers, stating that the dispensation of justice would no longer remain constrained by borders.
