Electricity consumers across Pakistan will face higher power bills for three months after the federal government approved an increase in tariffs under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed a rise of 32 paise per unit, which will be charged on electricity consumed from December 2025 to February 2026.
The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday that the additional cost will apply to units used during December, January, and February.
Nepra has formally conveyed its decision to all power distribution companies (Discos), including the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco), directing them to implement the revised charges.
The channel reported that the decision was taken after Nepra ruled on applications submitted by distribution companies seeking recovery under quarterly adjustments.
Earlier, on December 9, 2025, 24NewsHD reported that Nepra had approved a quarterly electricity price hike of up to 33 paise per unit for Karachi and the rest of the country.
The increase relates to the quarterly adjustment for the July to September 2025 period and will remain in effect for three months, from December 2025 to February 2026.
According to the report, the adjustment will place an additional financial burden of approximately Rs6.67 billion on electricity consumers nationwide.
