Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) launched three new important national codes, which include the Green Building Code of Pakistan, Rain Water Harvesting Code, and the Construction Safety and Health Code, it was reported on Tuesday.
Federal Secretary of Science and Technology Shahid Iqbal Baloch inaugurated these codes during an event arranged by the Pakistan Engineering Council.
Addressing the participants, Shahid Iqbal Baloch said that approval of national codes reflects Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable development.
He said, “New codes will help promote climate action and secure employment.”
The Secretary of Science and Technology said that these codes are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
He said that the effective implementation of codes is not possible without increasing the capacity of relevant institutions.
He urged all the relevant departments to ensure implementation of these codes in their respective departments.
The Federal Secretary of Science and Technology said that these national codes will strengthen water conservation and construction safety
Pakistan Engineering Council Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir and other prominent members and experts were also present during the function.
Chairman PEC Engineer Wasim Nazir presented the code books to the special guest.
