Pakistan Kabaddi Federation bans Ubaidullah Rajput representing Indian team

The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has imposed an immediate ban on kabaddi player Ubaidullah Rajput for committing multiple violations, including playing abroad without an NOC and representing a foreign team, it was reported on Saturday.

Briefing the media persons after a meeting of the PKF General Council, Chairman Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said the ban was approved by the general council and imposed following serious breaches of discipline by the player.

He added that Ubaidullah Rajput would have the right to appeal against the decision in accordance with federation rules.

The chairman stated that the case of Ubaidullah Rajput had been referred to the PKF Disciplinary Committee for action.

He revealed that the player committed three violations simultaneously, including travelling abroad and participating in matches without obtaining an NOC from the federation.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain also informed the General Council that Ubaidullah Rajput was already under suspension due to a doping-related case.

Despite the suspension, the player reportedly participated in kabaddi matches in Bahrain.

According to the PKF chairman, Ubaidullah Rajput represented the Indian team during a kabaddi event in Bahrain and was seen taking a lap of the ground while holding the Indian flag after the match, an act that further aggravated the matter.

He reiterated that no Pakistani player would be allowed to play abroad without prior permission and an official NOC from the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation.

The decision was announced following a General Council meeting of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, which was attended by office-bearers from provincial associations and various departments.

During the briefing, the chairman also outlined PKF’s plans for 2026, stating that the federation intends to organise 13 national and international kabaddi events during the year.

He said special initiatives are being taken to promote women’s kabaddi nationwide.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain further announced that kabaddi teams from Iran and other Muslim countries would be invited to participate in an indoor kabaddi tournament in Pakistan.
