The caretaker cabinet of Gilgit-Baltistan, comprising 12 ministers, took oath at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Gilgit, it was reported on Tuesday.
The Speaker of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Advocate, administered the oath.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Yar Muhammad, Chief Secretary, senior officials, IG Police, representatives of various institutions, and local dignitaries.
Ahead of the ceremony, a notification was issued assigning departments to the ministers.
Sajid Ali Baig was given Interior and Jail Affairs and Ghulam Abbas received Information and IT portfolios.
Colonel (R) Abrar Ismail was assigned Finance and Planning & Development, Engineer Altaf Hussain got Local Government and Rural Development, Mehrdad was given Food, and Maulana Sarwar Shah received Minerals & Industries.
Maulana Sharafat Din was assigned Forests, Wildlife, and Environment, while Syed Adil Shah was given Sports, Culture, and Youth Affairs. Engineer Mumtaz Hussain received Water & Power, Bahadur Ali got Education & Law, Dr Niaz Ali was given Health, and Raja Shehbaz Khan was assigned Tourism, Excise & Taxation, and Works & Communications.
The only female member of the 14-strong cabinet, Syeda Fatima, was assigned Social Welfare, Population, and Women’s Development, while Advisor Abdul Hakim received Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Water Management portfolios.
