PTI denied permission to hold public rally in Karachi

The Karachi administration has turned down Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s (PTI) request seeking permission to hold a public rally in the megacity on January 11 (Sunday).

The Deputy Commission East on Thursday denied the permission to PTI for holding the public gathering at Bagh-e-Jinnah on the eve of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s visit to Karachi, sources in the PTI informed.

PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar said the DC’s staff officer has told them that there were security problems.

Jamaat-e-Islami also sought permission for holding a public rally but that was also turned down.

Raja Azhar said they did not get any response in writing from the deputy commissioner. “We are still waiting for a decision on our application,” he added.
