Five major Bollywood movies set to release in 2026

The year 2026 is shaping up to be a major one for Bollywood fans. While 2025 witnessed massive box-office success with the film Dhurandhar, the current year is expected to be even bigger, with several high-budget films lined up that have the potential to create a stir in the film industry.

According to Indian media reports, six major films scheduled for release this year collectively carry a production budget of approximately Rs2,080 crore.

Topping the list is Ramayan, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the role of the Hindu deity Lord Ram. The film is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari, best known for delivering the blockbuster Dangal. Reports suggest that nearly Rs900 crore has already been spent on the first installment alone, while the total budget of the entire franchise is estimated at around Rs4,000 crore. Ramayan is set to release in cinemas on the occasion of Diwali.

Second on the list is Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s film King, with an estimated budget of Rs300 crore. The film is particularly notable as it marks the first time Shah Rukh Khan will share screen space with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film is being directed by Siddharth Anand.

At number three is Dhurandhar 2, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The film is scheduled for release on March 19 this year and has been made with a budget of approximately Rs250 crore.

Fourth on the list is Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles. The film is set to hit cinemas on the 23rd of this month and carries a budget of around Rs230 crore.

Fifth place is shared by two films – Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan and Love and War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt. According to reports, both films have budgets close to Rs200 crore each.

With massive budgets, star-studded casts, and grand-scale productions, these films are expected to generate significant excitement in Bollywood in 2026 and bring a fresh wave of enthusiasm for cinema-goers.
