Yasmin Rashid challenges May 9 sentences in LHC

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Friday filed appeals in the Lahore High Court, challenging her conviction in three separate cases related to the May 9 incident.

Rashid, through her lawyer Rana Muddassar Umar, contended that the trial court had hastily issued sentences without thoroughly reviewing the facts of the cases.

She urged the high court to declare the sentences in all three cases as null and void, claiming the trial was conducted in an expedited manner and in violation of principles of justice.

In her petition, Dr. Yasmin Rashid requested the high court to suspend the sentences until a final decision is made on her appeals.

The PTI leader was convicted in cases filed at the Gulberg, Racecourse, and Nasirabad police stations related to the May 9 protests.
