JI to hold public referendum on LG system in Lahore during Jan 15-18

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is set to hold public referendum on local government system in Lahore and in this regard, dates has been fixed from January 15 to 18, 2026, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

JI has ordered the preparation of ballot boxes for public referendum.

JI Lahore chapter president Ziauddin Ansari has established 3 committees for the referendum. He said public opinion will be directly sought on the local government system through public referendum.

Ziauddin Ansari said polling stations/campuses will be set up at important squares and intersections across Lahore during the referendum and special arrangements will be made to ensure full participation of women.

The law and order and discipline will be ensured at polling stations. “People’s opinion on the local government system will be sought through a public referendum,”  Ziauddin Ansari concluded.
