Three terrorists killed in CTD Jamrud operation

Security forces have killed three militants during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Jamrud, located in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to CTD officials, the operation was conducted in the Naka Khel area near Shah Kas Bypass Road after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of a militant cell. The raid targeted members of Fitna al-Khawarij, resulting in a brief exchange of fire during which three terrorists were eliminated.

The CTD said the killed militants were actively involved in attacks on security personnel and were also linked to serious crimes including murder, attempted murder, and extortion. Weapons and explosive material, including three Kalashnikov rifles, were recovered from the site.

Senior police officials, including the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Additional Inspector General of CTD, commended the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams for executing the operation successfully and preventing potential terror activities.

Security officials reiterated that Fitna al-Khawarij is the term used for the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna al-Hindustan refers to banned militant groups operating in Balochistan. Both groups have been blamed for carrying out terrorist attacks across different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, recent figures shared by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlight the scale of counterterrorism efforts carried out nationwide in 2025. According to ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, law enforcement agencies conducted more than 75,000 intelligence-based operations during the year.

He said the majority of these operations were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. During the same period, over 5,300 terrorist incidents were reported nationwide, with KP and Balochistan remaining the most affected regions.

The ISPR chief also stated that nearly 2,600 terrorists were killed in 2025, while more than 1,200 security personnel and civilians embraced martyrdom in the ongoing fight against terrorism. He added that 27 suicide attacks were recorded during the year, most of them occurring in KP and Balochistan.
