Rani Mukerji marks 30 years in Bollywood with reflective note

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji recently marked three decades in Hindi cinema, sharing a heartfelt reflection through Yash Raj Films’ official platforms. At 47, the actress, who does not personally maintain social media accounts, described her career as driven more by curiosity and passion than by ambition.

Mukerji recalled her journey from her debut in Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat to powerful performances in films like Saathiya, Black, Bunty Aur Babli, No One Killed Jessica, Mardaani, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, and Hichki. She emphasized choosing roles with substance and responsibility rather than glamour.

Speaking about her evolution, she reflected on how marriage and motherhood reshaped her perspective. “I didn’t come into films with a master plan. I came with curiosity, fear, and a deep love for stories,” she wrote. She also highlighted how the late 1990s helped her understand the deep cultural resonance of Hindi films, while the 2000s allowed her to explore complex female characters and find her own voice.

Rani described longevity in the industry as a result of honesty rather than mere relevance. Thanking her fans, she added, “I’m still feeling like a newcomer, wanting to excel, to work harder, to take on new cinematic challenges and write a totally new chapter of my life starting right now.”

Her next film, Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by her husband Aditya Chopra, is set to release on January 30, 2026.
