Muhammad Asif Butt elected as central president of Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) Pakistan

Establishment of EMRA Foundation and EMRA Federation announced

The Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) Pakistan, after organizational consultations representing 52 districts and 72 Tehsils across the country, unanimously elected Lahore EMRA President Muhammad Asif Butt as the central president of EMRA Pakistan for a term of three years.

This decision included representation from across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and the Federal Capital Islamabad, including Lahore, Okara, Layyah, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Vehari, Hafizabad, Khanewal, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Mirpur, Kot Addu, Lodhran, DG Khan, Pakpattan, Gujrat, Abbottabad, Muzaffargarh, Chenot, Narowal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pishin, Kalat Abdul (Gulistan), etc.

Similarly, leadership from EMRA across major cities and regions of the country, including Karachi, Nawabshah, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Quetta Cantonment, Saryab, Husainabad, Jinnah Town, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gilgit, Chilas, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, and Bagh, endorsed this election.

At the meeting, the presidents and secretaries of eight provincial EMRAs expressed their confidence in Muhammad Asif Butt and elected him as the central president.

On this occasion, there was also an official announcement regarding the establishment of EMRA Foundation and EMRA Federation, aimed at the welfare, professional protection, and rights of journalists, reporters, anchors, analysts, and media workers associated with electronic media across Pakistan. The advisory councils of these institutions will include Pakistan’s senior journalists, anchors, and analysts.

The meeting stressed that to further strengthen EMRA’s organizational structure, boards should be formed at the provincial, divisional, district, and tehsil levels nationwide, and reporters and stringers (SSRs) operating at the district and tehsil levels should be adequately represented in the divisional and provincial boards.

Upon being elected central president, Muhammad Asif Butt thanked all provincial, divisional, district, and tehsil leadership, saying that EMRA Pakistan will be the voice of every electronic media worker and that the rights of journalists will not be compromised under any circumstances.
