Tournament Format: A Quick Look
The sixteen teams are divided equally into four groups, consisting of four teams each. The top three teams from every group qualify for Super Six, while the remaining fourth teams participate in play-offs.
Super Six is again divided into two components. Teams retain the points, wins, and nets run rate that were earned in matches against other qualified teams in original groups. After that, each side plays two further matches against other teams in the other group.
After this, the top teams proceed to play in the semi-finals, with the championship game being held on February 6.
Groups
The group A consists of India, a heavyweight in company with Bangladesh, New Zealand, and the USA.
In Group B, Pakistan will play England, Scotland, and Zimbabwe, so all of them are in for a tough time.
The defending champions Australia lead the pack in Group C which also comprises Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Japan, while the remaining teams in the Group D consist of South Africa, West Indies, Afghanistan, and the new participant Tanzania.
