Punjab schools reopen after winter break with new timings

LAHORE: Public and private schools across Punjab reopened on Monday after a 30-day winter vacation, bringing students and teachers back to classrooms across the province.

The winter holidays began on December 20, giving students a month-long break due to cold weather. With the end of the holidays, regular academic activities have now resumed in all educational institutions.

According to the Punjab Education Department, new school timings have been introduced for government schools. From Monday to Thursday, schools will operate from 8:30 in the morning until 1:30 in the afternoon, while on Fridays, classes will end earlier at 12:15 pm.

The department said these revised timings will remain in force from January 19 until April 15, 2026.

In addition, teachers have been directed to take part in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions and curriculum preparation activities from Monday to Thursday. Officials stated that these measures aim to improve teaching quality and raise overall educational standards in the province.
