Israeli settlers accused of setting Palestinian homes on fire

Israeli settlers have released videos showing Palestinian homes being set on fire during an attack in the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli media reports. The incident left at least four people injured and caused significant damage to property.

Reports say that settlers torched eight houses and set fire to two vehicles during the assault. Videos of the attack, reportedly recorded by the settlers themselves, were later broadcast by Israeli media, drawing widespread condemnation.

Data released by the Israeli military shows a sharp rise in settler violence in recent years. More than 750 incidents linked to Jewish nationalist crimes and settler attacks were recorded in 2025 alone. This marked an increase from 2024, when around 675 attacks against Palestinians were reported.

Israeli media has also highlighted that legal action against those involved in such attacks is rare. Critics say the current hardline Israeli government often overlooks violence against Palestinians. Reports claim that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir have largely ignored these incidents.

According to Israeli media data, investigations into settler attacks have dropped by nearly 73 percent, raising serious concerns about accountability and justice. Human rights groups warn that the lack of action has created an environment where violence continues with little consequence.

The latest incident has once again intensified international concern over the safety of Palestinians in the occupied territories and the growing trend of unchecked settler violence.

Moreover, The formations of a Gaza ruling body have been denied by the Israelis. A report from the briefing of the briefing from the Prime Minister’s Office indicated that there had been lack of consultation.

This occurs just a short while after the White House appointed persons to a Gaza board related to President Trump’s peace plan. This board was meant to monitor the governance and development projects within Gaza with a goal of ensuring that the region stabilizes.

“This proposal has not been coordinated with Israeli authorities,” a spokesman for Netanyahu’s office was reported to have said. “We were not contacted regarding the establishment of the Gaza board, and its establishment was rejected.”

The issue is likely to be brought up in talks scheduled to take place between Israel’s Foreign Minister, Gidi Saar, and the United States’ Foreign Minister, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, according to the latter’s office. The board, as proposed, does not align with Israel’s security and policy goals, according to the statement.

The plan by the Trump administration, announced early this month, is expected to move forward with peace and economic development initiatives in Gaza. The nominated board members will monitor investments and infrastructure projects; however, the move has met instant rejection from the Israeli government.

According to reports, the purpose of this board was that it would serve as an administrative body overseeing matters of international aid for the coordination of Gaza’s local government. This, according to Israeli officials, may hamper Israel’s control over security and political issues there.
