Pakistan has formally agreed to join United States President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, a newly formed international platform aimed at advancing the Gaza Peace Plan, the Foreign Office confirmed on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision follows an invitation extended by President Trump to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Board of Peace has been established in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which calls for practical measures to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In its statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan’s participation reflects its enduring commitment to global peace and stability, as well as its consistent diplomatic and moral support for the Palestinian cause.
Islamabad expressed hope that the initiative would move beyond statements and result in tangible outcomes, including the enforcement of a permanent ceasefire, an expansion of humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, and the rebuilding of Gaza’s damaged infrastructure.
The government stressed that an immediate and lasting ceasefire remains essential to easing the humanitarian crisis, noting that prolonged hostilities have caused widespread civilian casualties and displacement. Pakistan also called for unrestricted humanitarian access to ensure the timely delivery of food, medical aid, and other critical supplies.
Reaffirming its principled stance, Pakistan emphasized that sustainable peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without addressing the underlying political dimensions of the conflict. The Foreign Office reiterated its support for the right of self-determination of the Palestinian people through a credible and time-bound political process, grounded in international law and UN resolutions.
Such a process, the statement said, should lead to the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Diplomatic observers believe Pakistan’s inclusion in the Board of Peace could strengthen the forum’s credibility, particularly among Muslim-majority nations, and help foster broader international consensus on Gaza-related peace efforts.
While details regarding the board’s structure and operations have not yet been disclosed, officials indicated that it is expected to play a coordinating role in ceasefire facilitation, humanitarian relief, post-conflict reconstruction, and support for a UN-led political process.
Pakistan also conveyed its readiness to engage constructively within the forum to help alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and contribute meaningfully to lasting peace.
