Sialkot Stallionz unveiled as PSL 11’s new franchise

After much waiting, the Sialkot franchise in the Pakistan Super League announced their name and logo on Wednesday, deciding to play as Sialkot Stallionz in the upcoming PSL 11, to be held in March.

The news was announced on the social media pages of the franchise owner, Kamil Khan, marking the end of the rumors that had circulated for several weeks following the auction of the franchise early in the month. The Sialkot franchise was acquired for a whopping Rs1.85 billion.

On X, Khan uploaded the logo with a taunt – “You guessed it. You waited. Now, I am proud to officially introduce SIALKOT STALLIONZ.” Later, he expressed his enthusiasm for what lies ahead as he looks “forward to be a part of Pakistan Super League’s journey.”

The Stallionz logo, seen in a clip, features strong imagery that aims to bring out strength, speed, or geographical pride. The city is known to be one of the prominent sports centers in Pakistan, mainly because of its sports goods products, such as cricket gear.

PSL 11 will kick off from March 26, 2026, with the PCB expanding the event by incorporating Faisalabad, a fresh venue. This decision will see Faisalabad return to the hosting list after a long time, which is part of the PCB’s strategy to cover all of country cricket.

The adopted moniker, ‘Sialkot Stallionz,’ pays homage to the former domestic powerhouse, the Sialkot Stallions, whose legendary status in Pakistani cricket is not hard to forget. The Stallions dominated the National T20 Cup from 2005 to 2012, winning the title six times while remaining unbeaten in 25 matches, setting the world record in the process, which still stands in the domestic T20 competition in Pakistan.

The uncovering of the franchise names occurs just after the PCB made a significant change to the way franchises will be selecting their players. For the first time at the PSL, teams will select their squads through an auction system instead of drafting.

Now, the franchises are allowed to retain a total of four players, and this should not exceed more than one per category. This is a major shift from the past seasons where the franchise was allowed to retain players alongside aspects such as mentors and ambassadors. The team’s name having been established, attention can now be turned to assembling a team and gearing up for their first season in Pakistan’s premier Twenty20 League for Stallionz.
