Nana Patekar walks out of O’Romeo launch

Veteran actor Nana Patekar made headlines after leaving the trailer launch of Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film O’Romeo in Mumbai, citing a long delay as co-stars arrived late.

The 75-year-old actor, one of the film’s leads, reached the venue on time but reportedly waited for over an hour for Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri before walking out. His early departure quickly drew attention from fans and media, sparking debate online.

Director Vishal Bhardwaj addressed the situation with humour. Speaking to reporters, he said, “Nana is like the naughtiest child in a classroom—he entertains but also stands up for himself. We made him wait, and he left in his signature style. That’s just Nana Patekar.”

The incident stirred discussion on social media. Many fans supported Patekar, emphasizing that punctuality should be respected regardless of celebrity status. Others criticized event organizers for poor coordination, highlighting delays as a recurring issue in film promotions.

O’Romeo marks Shahid Kapoor’s reunion with Bhardwaj after films like Kaminey and Haider. The cast also includes Farida Jalal, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Vikrant Massey. Inspired by true events, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on February 13, 2026.

Renowned filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has released the much-anticipated trailer of his upcoming film “O Romeo” in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. The movie marks Bhardwaj’s theatrical comeback and promises a mix of romance, action, and his signature cinematic style.

Shahid Kapoor plays Ustara, a Mumbai mafioso hopelessly in love with Triptii Dimri’s character, a woman involved in a murder-for-hire plot. While the filmmakers deny that the story is directly based on gangster Hussain Ustara—despite his family sending a legal notice—the trailer confirms Shahid’s character carries the name Ustara.

The film explores the dark underworld of Mumbai, balancing intense action with musical sequences and moments of classic Vishal Bhardwaj quirkiness. Shahid’s character is shown navigating a violent life while yearning for Triptii’s affection, highlighting the emotional and moral conflicts of a crime-ridden world.
