Pakistan’s national hockey players have decided to boycott the ongoing training camp after repeated delays in the payment of their daily allowances, it was reported on Friday.
According to sources, the players have resolved not to take part in training from Friday evening, as negotiations over unpaid dues failed to reach a conclusion.
The decision comes after the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) missed its own deadline to clear the outstanding payments.
Sources revealed that the PHF had assured the players that all pending daily allowances would be paid by January 23.
However, on the day of the deadline, the federation reportedly sought an additional week to process the payments.
The message was conveyed to the players through the team management, further aggravating frustrations within the squad.
Following the latest delay, the players unanimously decided to boycott the camp, with all national hockey players currently enrolled in the camp joining the protest. T
The PHF is reportedly yet to clear daily allowance payments related to the Bangladesh series, while outstanding dues from the first phase of the Pro Hockey League also remain unpaid.
Sources added that while the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has already paid Rs10,000 per day as part of the Pro League allowance, the remaining Rs20,000 per day was promised by the PHF but has not been released so far.
Sources said the players, exhausted by persistent financial issues, felt left with no option but to suspend training until their legitimate dues are cleared.
