Govt imposes ban on private keeping of pet lions in Punjab

The Punjab government has decided to impose ban on the private keeping of lions as pet animal in residential areas following a recent incident in Lahore in which a pet lion attacked a young girl.

After taking notice of the incident of an 8-year-old boy being mauled, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered to end the legal permission to keep pet lions in houses throughout Punjab.

On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, 8-year-old Wajid was shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital. CM Maryam Nawaz also directed to fit the affected child with a modern bionic arm. Legal action was directed against the cover-up of the incident and the amputation of Wajid’s arm at the local hospital.

Chief Minister Maryam expresses sympathies to Wajda and her parents and directed full care of her by health department.
