Commenting on the imprisonment awarded to human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha in controversial tweets case, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday said it was strange that these were the lawyers of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA), who had accompanied Imaan and her husband to jail and now they had gone on a strike to protest their conviction.
When during the hearing of a case, the judge was told that lawyers for both the plaintiff and the defendant were absent, he asked the reason for their absence.
He was informed they were absent because they had boycotted the court proceedings to register their protest against the conviction of the couple.
Justice Kayani said that the Bar deserved a medal.
He further said that the judges were incompetent and the judge in Imaan and Hadi case had given the verdict without studying the law.
