Saudi Arabia has firmly stated that it will not permit its airspace or territory to be used for any military action against Iran.
The assurance was conveyed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The Saudi leader emphasized that Riyadh supports peaceful efforts aimed at resolving regional disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
According to official statements, the crown prince stressed that stability and security in the Middle East can only be achieved through mutual understanding rather than confrontation. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s position of avoiding involvement in any military escalation targeting Iran.
Iranian President Pezeshkian, in response, welcomed initiatives that seek to prevent conflict, provided they operate within the framework of international law. Tehran has repeatedly stated that it prefers diplomatic solutions and does not seek war in the region.
Saudi Arabia’s stance aligns with a similar position taken by the United Arab Emirates, which has also declared that its airspace and territorial waters will not be used for military operations against Iran. These positions signal a broader regional reluctance to be drawn into a potential conflict.
Tensions remain high following recent statements by US President Donald Trump, who claimed that additional American naval forces are moving toward the region. While Trump said he hopes to avoid military action, his remarks have added to uncertainty over Washington’s intentions toward Tehran.
US officials have confirmed the deployment of an aircraft carrier and accompanying warships to the Middle East. The move is described as a measure to strengthen defense capabilities and protect US interests, though it also raises fears of possible escalation.
Iran has recently faced widespread unrest, with human rights organizations alleging that security forces used excessive force during demonstrations. Iranian authorities, however, deny the allegations and blame violence on foreign-backed groups and internal agitators.
