The Pakistan Sports Board has approved a daily allowance of $115 (Rs 32,189) per player for the 11-member national hockey team, a financial measure designed to ensure players face no difficulties during their upcoming international commitments in the FIH Pro League, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to official details, the PSB has directed its finance department to release the full amount to all squad members before the team’s departure, reflecting a clear emphasis on timely disbursement and player welfare. Officials stated that the decision was taken to ensure the athletes remain fully focused on performance without financial or logistical concerns during the overseas tour.
The board clarified that the daily allowance has been sanctioned in line with the budget formally approved by the federal government. Director General Pakistan Sports Board Muhammad Yasir Pirzada confirmed that the approval adheres strictly to government financial regulations and applies specifically to Pakistan’s participation in the FIH Pro League.
The allowance structure ensures equitable support for each member throughout the international tour. PSB officials emphasized that such provisions are essential for maintaining professional standards and morale, particularly during high-intensity global competitions.
Pakistan’s national hockey team is scheduled to begin the second phase of the FIH Pro League with a clash against Australia on February 10, followed by a match against Germany on February 11.
The team will then face Australia again on February 13, before concluding the tour with a final encounter against Germany on February 14.
The move is being widely seen as a constructive step toward strengthening institutional backing for national athletes, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to supporting its hockey players as they compete on one of the sport’s most prestigious international platforms.
