Pakistan, Azerbaijan Naval Chiefs hold talks to boost maritime security

RAWALPINDI: The Commander of Azerbaijan Naval Forces, Rear Admiral Shahin Mammadov, paid an official visit to Pakistan’s Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf to discuss regional maritime security and defence cooperation.

Rear Admiral Mammadov was warmly received on arrival and was presented a Guard of Honour by a Pakistan Navy contingent. He also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada’s Monument to pay tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes.

During the meeting, both naval leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, the regional security environment, and ways to strengthen collaboration in training and defence. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the scope of existing bilateral defence ties and working more closely in the future.

The visiting commander was later briefed on various ongoing projects of the Pakistan Navy, highlighting efforts to modernize and enhance operational capabilities.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy long-standing brotherly relations, with strong cooperation between their naval forces. Officials said the visit is expected to further deepen bilateral ties and promote closer collaboration between the two countries, especially in the maritime domain.
