Deputy PM Ishaq Dar approves second cycle of HBFC privatization

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) on Tuesday to review the ongoing privatization process of various State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

During the meeting, the committee endorsed the decision to enter the second cycle of privatization for the House Building Finance Company (HBFC).

It also recommended including the outsourcing of Islamabad Airport under the Privatization Commission’s portfolio.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that relevant ministries and the Privatization Commission must ensure the determination of fair market value, taking into account both existing assets and future business prospects. He noted that privatization would encourage private sector investment and allow institutions to adapt more quickly to market dynamics.

The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Energy Minister Owais Leghari, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, and senior officials including the Secretaries of Cabinet, Privatization, Law, and Industries.
