Suryakumar Yadav says India to travel to Colombo despite Pakistan’s boycott decision

Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav has clarified that India has not pulled out of its scheduled match against Pakistan and remains ready to travel to Colombo for the fixture.

Responding to reports surrounding the Pakistan team’s decision to boycott the match, Suryakumar said India’s travel arrangements to Sri Lanka had already been finalized.

He said the team was fully prepared to play and had no intention of stepping away from the contest.

“We haven’t refused to play. Our plans to go to Colombo are in place,” the Indian captain said while commenting on the situation.

The statement comes after Pakistan announced it would not participate in its group-stage match against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. The decision was taken in line with directives from the Pakistani government.

According to an official announcement shared on the government’s X account on Sunday, February 1, Pakistan has been cleared to travel to Sri Lanka for the tournament but will not take the field against India on the specified date.

The contrasting positions of the two teams have raised uncertainty over the fate of one of the tournament’s most anticipated matches.
