Bilawal, US lawmaker call for cementing Pakistan-US parliamentary ties

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and an American Republican lawmaker have called for cementing parliamentary relationship between Washington and Islamabad, it was reported on Thursday.

The call was made during a meeting between Bilawal Bhutto with Republican member of the US House of Representatives Robert B Aderholt in Washington on Wednesday.

The meeting was held before the prayer breakfast in Washington, during which both leaders held detailed discussion on interfaith harmony and religious tolerance.

The PPP chairman and Robert Aderholt, who was elected from the state of Alabama, also exchanged views on promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.

Both leaders also pondered over proposals regarding primary health and education.

Bilawal and Robert Aderholt, who is also a member of the US House’s Appropriations Committee Washington, also discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary ties between Pakistan and the US.

Senator Akbar Khawaja was also present during the meeting between Bilawal Zardari and Robert Aderholt.
