The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has forecast dry and partly cloudy weather in Lahore from February 6 to 8, indicating favourable conditions for Basant festivities while stressing the need for strict safety measures.
According to PDMA Punjab, weather conditions in Lahore and nearby areas are expected to remain stable and mild throughout the three-day period, making it suitable for outdoor activities associated with the traditional festival. Daytime temperatures are likely to range between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, providing comfortable conditions for residents.
In contrast, the authority has warned that northern parts of the province may experience rain, while snowfall is expected in mountainous regions. PDMA said these weather patterns could intensify cold conditions in upper areas, advising residents and travelers to remain vigilant.
Alongside the forecast, PDMA Punjab has urged the public to follow precautionary guidelines during Basant celebrations, particularly while flying kites. Citizens have been cautioned to stay clear of electricity lines and exercise care on rooftops to avoid accidents.
The authority has also reiterated a strict ban on the use of metal wires, chemical-coated strings and other prohibited kite-flying materials, warning that such items pose serious threats to public safety.
Motorcyclists have been specifically advised to wear helmets and protective neck gear during Basant. PDMA said the advisory is intended to minimize the risk of injuries amid increased traffic movement and kite-flying activities across the city.
