Geo TV’s latest prime-time drama, Sara Aapi, has sparked discussions on social media for its storyline and character dynamics. Produced by Geo Entertainment in collaboration with 7th Sky Productions, the drama is directed by Asad Jabal and written by Saqlain Abbas.
The series stars Sawera Nadeem as the titular Sara Aapi, an elder sister who wields significant control over her siblings’ lives. The drama explores the tension between family loyalty and personal freedom, as the eldest brother struggles to disclose his secret marriage under his sister’s watchful eye. Other cast members include Sami Khan, Adeel Chaudhry, Sidra Niazi, Nimra Khan, Khaqan Shahnawaz, Ammara Malik, Mahmood Aslam, and Adnan Jaffar.
Since its premiere, Sara Aapi has aired two episodes. Viewers have taken to social media to voice their opinions, with many drawing comparisons to the classic drama Noor Jahan. Some fans argue that the storyline mirrors Noor Jahan, with the main difference being the central authority figure: in Noor Jahan, it was a strict mother, while in Sara Aapi, it is the elder sister.
Other viewers noted that Sara Aapi seems to blend elements of Noor Jahan and the drama Nand, while some called it predictable, claiming the plot could be anticipated after a single episode. A few comments also compared it to Geo TV’s recently aired series Baray Bhaiyya, noting familiar themes of family conflict and control.
