FPCCI launches country’s first Index of Transparency, Accountability

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on Thursday formally launched the country’s first Index of Transparency and Accountability.

FPCCI’s Senior Vice President (SVP) Saquib Fayyaz Magoon said that the results of the countrywide survey conducted to gauge transparency had been released.

Giving details, he said that in the survey, of a total of 6,018 people, who were asked to give their opinions, 68 per cent said it was wrong to say that demanding bribes was common in Pakistan, and only 27 per cent were of the view that the culture was entrenched in the society. “And these 27 per cent people also said that they were asked to give bribe,” Magoon said, adding that the survey had proved wrong the perception that there was 68 per cent corruption in the country.

He announced that the results of the survey would also be shown to foreign investors.

FPCCI SVP went on to say that there existed lots of opportunities for investment in Pakistan. “And we will bring these facts to the knowledge of the whole world.”
