Wife of Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Yasin Malik, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, said on Thursday that the Kashmir issue was no ordinary dispute, but had become a nuclear flashpoint.
In a video statement, she said that the silence of the international community on the issue was quite disturbing. “Atrocities are being committed against the people of the valley and the world is acting like a mute spectator,” she lamented.
She further said that keeping Yasin in a death cell amounted to punishing the entire Kashmiri nation.
Mushaal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in India wanted to suppress Kashmiris’ freedom movement by hanging their leaders.
She asked why the Indian government considered the Kashmiris’ demand for the right to self-determination a crime.
Mushaal said that human rights situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir had worsened as there was a reign of terror in the valley.
