The 2016 romantic film Sanam Teri Kasam, which won a devoted fanbase over the years, appears to be heading back to screens.
Producer Deepak Mukut took to Instagram while marking the film’s 10th anniversary to confirm that work on Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is underway. Celebrating the project that changed his filmmaking journey, Mukut reflected on his lifelong attraction to cinema and described the producer’s role as one that requires juggling many responsibilities, from shaping the script and assembling the cast and crew to managing budgets and countless other tasks.
Recalling the film’s slow start, he said that Sanam Teri Kasam was his dream realized and the first labour of love for his banner, Soham Rockstar Entertainment. Although the movie did not make a big splash at the box office initially, Mukut said he always believed in its potential, a faith that paid off when the film gained renewed popularity after being re-released in 2025.
Closing his post with a tantalizing note, Mukut teased that the story will continue, hinting at a reboot or sequel on the horizon.
Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam follows the emotional journey of Inder, an ex-convict, and Saru, a traditional librarian, whose love faces severe trials. The couple marry despite social obstacles, only to have their happiness shattered when Saru is diagnosed with a terminal illness. The film’s blend of romance and tragedy helped it connect deeply with audiences, a connection that now seems set to inspire a new chapter.
