Govt pockets Rs822.93 billion from petroleum levy in first FY2026 half

The federal government has pocketed record Rs822.93 billion under the head of petroleum development levy (PDL) during the first half from (July 2025 to December 2025) of the fiscal year 2025-26, it was reported on Saturday.

As per the documents released by the Ministry of Finance, an increase of Rs273.51 billion was recorded under the head of PDL.

This is the highest petroleum levy collection in the country’s history. During the same period of the previous fiscal year, the petroleum levy collection was Rs 549.41 billion.

The target for petroleum levy collection for the current fiscal year is set at Rs 1468.395 million. In the last fiscal year, the collection of the petroleum levy was 1220.213 billion.

During fiscal year 2023-25, the federal government received an amount of Rs1019 billion under the head of petroleum development and Rs580 billion were received as PDL in fiscal year 2022-23.
