US report highlights rising threat from BLA terror networks

A US magazine, The National Interest, has warned that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is changing its strategies and becoming a growing threat in Pakistan and the region. Unlike before, the group now operates through small, scattered networks rather than trying to control large areas, making it harder to track and stop their attacks.

The report emphasizes that poverty alone cannot explain or justify terrorism. It highlights that the BLA uses violence and terror to achieve its goals, which is why Pakistan, the US, the UK, and China have officially declared it a terrorist organization.

The magazine also notes that weapons left behind in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of international forces have helped terrorist groups, including the BLA, to expand their activities. This easy access to arms and fighters allows these groups to stay connected and plan attacks across borders.

Experts in the report suggest that tackling terrorism now requires network-focused strategies rather than traditional military approaches. They recommend stronger intelligence sharing, financial monitoring, and legal actions to stop the movement of fighters, money, and resources.

The report concludes that Pakistan, the United States, and Central Asian countries must work closely to dismantle these networks. By targeting their support systems, communication channels, and funding, the region can reduce the threat of evolving terrorist groups like the BLA.
