Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Tuesday for a one-day official visit. She was warmly welcomed at Quetta Airport by Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and provincial ministers.
Following her arrival, Maryam Nawaz headed to the Governor House for a scheduled meeting with the Balochistan governor. During her visit, she will meet families of those martyred and injured in recent terrorist attacks to express solidarity and support.
The chief minister is also set to meet Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and consult with provincial cabinet members on the current political and security situation.
Accompanying Maryam Nawaz are Punjab ministers Marriyum Aurangzeb and Uzma Bukhari, along with the Punjab chief secretary. The visit underscores the provincial government’s commitment to national unity and support for affected families.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday stated that there was no strike anywhere in Punjab and that the public had completely rejected negative behavior and abusive rhetoric.
Speaking at a Basant festival event in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that although a strike had been called the previous day, Sunday is traditionally a day when shops remain closed. She said the public defeated the disruptive call by miscreants, resulting in zero strikes, zero shutter-downs, and no disruption of traffic. She added that the culture of unrest and chaos propagated by PTI did not succeed. According to her, the strike call was aimed at harming the poor while benefiting the wealthy, and it was encouraging to see people reject such misbehavior.
