Punjab launches Ramazan Savings Festival from Feb 13

The Punjab government has announced a three-day Ramazan Savings Festival to be held at Jilani Park, Lahore, from February 13 to February 15, aimed at providing relief to citizens ahead of the holy month of Ramazan.

The festival is being organised on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and will offer essential food items at subsidised prices. The initiative seeks to help families cope with rising costs by ensuring access to quality food at affordable rates before Ramazan begins.

Punjab Food Authority Director General Asim Javed chaired a coordination meeting to review festival arrangements. He stated that multiple relief stalls would be established to supply basic commodities at reduced prices under strict monitoring.

Items including flour, ghee, pulses, sugar, rice, fruits, vegetables, and other daily necessities will be available at discounted rates. Authorities have assured that food safety and hygiene standards will be strictly enforced at all stalls throughout the event.

In addition to subsidised shopping, the festival will feature family-friendly activities, along with displays highlighting Punjab’s culture, traditions, and regional heritage, making it a recreational outing for citizens.

Food Authority teams will remain deployed on-site to oversee product quality, pricing, and availability. Officials have been directed to ensure a secure, orderly, and welcoming environment for visitors during the three-day event.

Separately, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has announced the Sadaqatul Fitr and Fidyah rates for Ramazan 2026. The minimum amount has been fixed at Rs300 per person based on wheat flour. The rates for barley, dates, raisins, and munqa range from Rs1,100 to Rs5,400, while those using government-subsidised flour may pay Rs200 per person.
