Barrister Safdar says media reports of Imran Khan’s good health are inaccurate

PTI lawyer Salman Safdar, whom the Supreme Court (SC) had ordered to meet former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, said on Wednesday that the news aired on media that Imran was in good health were baseless.

He was speaking to reporters outside the SC building.

When a reporter asked him whether he meant to say that the former prime minister’s health was poor, Safdar replied he could not say anything in this regard. “Everything is written in the seven-page report,” he added.

He complained that baseless stories circulated in media about him.

PTI lawyer he had told Imran’s sister Aleema Khan and party leader Salman Akram Raja that he could not disclose to them contents of the report, and they agreed with him.

Earlier, he submitted a report to the SC on PTI founder’s health.

Earlier on the orders of Chief Justice of Supreme Court (SC), PTI counsel Barrister Salman Safdar met former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The apex court on Tuesday allowed Barrister Salman Safdar to meet Imran Khan, currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

During the hearing of appeals against trial in the Toshakhana case, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi remarked that PTI counsel Barrister Safdar would go to Adiala Jail today, meet the former prime minister and submit a report on his present condition as well as the facilities being provided to him tomorrow.

“We will see the report tomorrow and the next hearing will be held on February 12,” he added.

The apex court appointed Barrister Safdar as ‘Friend of the Court’. A two-member bench of the SC, headed by CJP Afridi, heard the appeals.
