Licenses of three flour mills cancelled over illegal movement

District Food Controller Azhar Abbas cancelled the licenses of three flour mills and imposed an Rs5 million penalty for illegal flour movement in the province, it was reported on Wednesday.

According to details, the District Food Controller intercepted the vehicles of Bakhtawar Flour Mill, Al Shehbaz Flour Mills, and Zam Zam Flour Mill that were loaded with flour during a surprise check at night.

They were immediately issued separate show-cause notices to them to explain the reason for transporting the flour.

They were asked to produce a flour permit for the transportation of flour, after which they failed to satisfy the district administration.

In the office of the district administration, Rawalpindi, all the mill owners argued in their defence, which was found incorrect.

After the conclusion, District Food Controller Azhar Abbas imposed a Rs5 million penalty on each flour mill. He also directed that the licenses of the above-mentioned flour mills remain suspended till payment of the fine.
