The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather across most parts of the country on Friday, with isolated precipitation expected in northern mountainous areas.
According to the latest advisory, plains will largely remain dry, while hilly regions are expected to experience partly cloudy skies and very cold conditions, particularly during the early morning and nighttime hours. In Gilgit-Baltistan, light rain and light snowfall may occur at isolated locations, as temperatures continue to stay below freezing in higher altitudes.
In the federal capital Islamabad and adjoining areas, dry weather is likely to persist, accompanied by cold mornings and nights. Gusty winds are expected to blow during daytime hours, adding to the chill in open areas.
Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain cold and dry, while upper districts such as Chitral, Dir and Swat are forecast to witness partly cloudy conditions, with chances of light rain or snowfall in surrounding localities. Temperatures in these areas are expected to drop significantly during early morning and nighttime hours.
Across Punjab, dry weather will prevail in most districts, with cold conditions during the morning and night. Hill stations including Murree and the Galiyat region are likely to remain cold and dry. Central and southern parts of the province may experience gusty winds during the day.
In Sindh, mainly dry weather is expected to continue across the province. Similarly, most districts of Balochistan are forecast to remain partly cloudy and dry, with northern areas facing colder conditions during morning and night hours.
In Azad Kashmir, cold and partly cloudy weather is expected, with very cold conditions during early morning and nighttime. The PMD reported that over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most regions of the country.
The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were -9°C in Leh, -5°C in Astore, -3°C in Kalam, and -2°C in Nathia Gali, Hunza, Gupis and Rawalakot. In major cities, minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded as follows: Islamabad 6°C and 26°C, Lahore 10°C and 25°C, Karachi 18°C and 32°C, Peshawar 6°C and 27°C, Quetta 4°C and 18°C, Gilgit 0°C and 18°C, Muzaffarabad 3°C and 23°C, Skardu 0°C and 10°C, Murree 0°C and 17°C, Faisalabad 8°C and 25°C, and Multan 10°C and 25°C.
The department indicated that the prevailing cold and dry spell is likely to persist in most parts of the country over the coming days, with no significant widespread rainfall system expected in the near future.
