QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the schedule for the by-election on NA-256 Khuzdar, the seat vacated by BNP-Mengal chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal.
According to the official notification, polling for the constituency will be held on April 5, while the public notice for the election will be issued on February 18.
The Election Commission stated that nomination papers may be submitted from February 20 to February 24. The list of nominated candidates will be published on February 25, and election symbols will be allotted on March 18.
The notification further mentioned that the Deputy Commissioner of Khuzdar has been appointed as the District Returning Officer (DRO) for the by-election.
It is worth noting that the NA-256 seat fell vacant after Sardar Akhtar Mengal resigned, and his resignation was accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly three days ago.
