Two killed, 20 injured in Bannu IED blast

Two people, including a child, were killed and at least 20 others injured in an explosion near Miryan Police Station in Bannu on Monday morning.

Authorities said an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted in a Zaranj rickshaw. The rickshaw was parked in front of shops outside the main gate of the police station. The blast caused widespread panic and injuries among civilians nearby.

Police quickly deployed a large contingent to secure the area. They cordoned off the site and began investigations. No police personnel were harmed in the explosion.

Bannu Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan confirmed the attack. He said authorities are investigating the incident to identify those responsible.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the blast. He expressed sorrow over the deaths and offered prayers for the victims. The governor extended condolences to their families. He described the perpetrators as enemies of humanity and said provincial leadership stands with the affected families.

In a separate incident late Monday night, militants destroyed a bridge on the Tank–Wana main road in Tank. Explosives were planted at the Kot Hakim location. Authorities are assessing the damage and its impact on local travel.
