Electricity prices are expected to go up in the country as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Wednesday filed in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) an application, seeking an increase in power tariff by Rs1.78 per unit under the adjustment for January, 2026.
The NEPRA will hear the application on February 26.
If approved, the hike will also apply to the consumers of Karachi-Electric (K-Electric).
Presently, consumers are being charged rates under the adjustment for December 2025.
Electricity prices had been increased by 28 paisa per unit under the adjustment.
