Iran has warned that any military aggression against it will be met with a strong and decisive response. In a letter to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Iran’s permanent mission expressed concern over recent statements by US President Donald Trump, which Tehran described as a serious indication of possible military action.
The letter emphasized that Iran does not seek war or escalation. However, it made clear that if attacked, the country will defend itself firmly. Tehran stated that in such a scenario, military bases, installations, and other assets of adversary forces in the region would be considered legitimate targets.
Iran also referred to President Trump’s social media post suggesting that the US might use Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford airfields to address potential threats if Iran did not comply with certain agreements. Tehran interpreted this as evidence of a real threat and reiterated its readiness to respond decisively.
The letter urged the United Nations to take notice of the situation and actively work to reduce regional tensions. Iran called on the international community to engage diplomatically to prevent conflict escalation.
The warning highlights the tense US-Iran relations, showing that while Iran prefers peace, it is prepared to act strongly to protect its sovereignty and security.
