Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal’s recent comments about Karachi have sparked a wave of reactions online. In a video circulating on social media, she expressed her desire for Maryam Nawaz to take an active role in improving the city.
During a talk show, Momina praised Punjab’s governance, saying, “Currently, by the grace of God, the situation in Punjab is quite good.” She highlighted the positive developments in the province and acknowledged the efforts being made there.
When host Faisal Qureshi asked her to comment on Karachi, Momina responded thoughtfully, noting that she mostly resides in the city and experiences its challenges firsthand. “If there is anyone for the people of Karachi, please let us know,” she said, adding, “I hope a Maryam Nawaz comes here too.”
Qureshi encouraged her further, noting that voices in Karachi often go unheard, suggesting her message could make an impact.
Her remarks echo sentiments from Karachi’s business community in January last year, when traders requested Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal to “bring Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to Karachi,” while expressing dissatisfaction with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The call quickly gained attention on social media, sparking criticism of the provincial leadership.
Earlier, Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has sparked discussion with her recent remarks about modern-day relationships and emotional dynamics between men and women. In an interview with Fuchsia Magazine, Momina opened up about her personal life, her bond with her siblings, and her views on love and marriage.
Momina revealed that she shares a very close relationship with her younger siblings, especially her 19-year-old brother. Recalling a recent incident, she said that when she was feeling low and going through depression, her brother surprised her with flower garlands (gajray), a gesture that deeply touched her. She highlighted that her brother always treats her with love and respect, often opening the car door for her and making her feel special. According to Momina, this thoughtful behavior is something her brother inherited from their father.
