Aina Asif sparks age debate while shining in hit dramas

Pakistani teenage actress Aina Asif has quickly become one of the country’s most talked-about stars, earning acclaim for her strong performances in dramas like Hum Tum, Mayi Ri, Baby Baji, Pinjra, and Pehli Si Muhabbat. Her recent hits Judwaa and Parwarish have further cemented her reputation, while audiences are now raving about her role in Maa on Green Entertainment. She also appears in Hum TV’s special Ramzan drama Tum Larkay Bhi Na.

Aina Asif recently appeared on Bahar-e-Ramzan, hosted by Faysal Quraishi, where she addressed questions about her age. She stated,

“I have a few months left before I can get my ID card; I am currently underage. After nine months, I will receive it. Many of our top actors began at my age. Some people say I should take on age-appropriate roles, but when I’ve played characters my own age, they’ve said I look older. I’ve proven through my work that I can bring energy and intensity to my roles. Age-appropriate characters are rarely written these days. I’ve earned my place in the industry. Often, 18-year-old roles are played by actors in their mid-20s, and that’s not questioned. So I don’t pay attention to the criticism anymore.”

Her comments have sparked a lively debate online. Some fans joke that Aina has been “stuck” at 17 for years, while others speculate that she is actually around 22. A smaller group of viewers has raised concerns about potential child labour issues if she is indeed under 18. Social media is flooded with varied opinions, reflecting both admiration for her talent and curiosity about her true age.
