RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) today, where he received a detailed briefing from military leadership on Pakistan-Afghanistan border developments.
During the visit, the Prime Minister emphasised zero tolerance for the alliance of Fitna al-Khawarij and the Afghan Taliban regime, stating that their provocations against Pakistan are completely unacceptable.
He lauded the professional capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces, led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, and the Chiefs of Defence Forces, for responding decisively to attacks by Taliban forces along the border.
“Pakistan knows well how to defend itself against any aggression,” the prime minister said, highlighting that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces to protect the homeland.
Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq
Over 274 Afghan Taliban regime personnel and fighters were killed and more than 400 injured during Pakistan’s Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, according to the military. The operation also destroyed 74 Taliban posts and eliminated 115 tanks and armoured vehicles.
DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry briefed media on the operation, explaining that on the night of February 21 and 22, Pakistani forces targeted hideouts of Fitna al-Khawarij near the border. He said the Afghan Taliban regime had attempted to exploit these areas to launch attacks.

“Attacks occurred at 53 locations across 15 sectors along the Pak-Afghan border,” the DG stated. “All attacks were successfully repelled, and the enemy received a decisive response that was observed globally.”
Air strikes
The Pakistan Air Force carried out overnight air strikes targeting installations in Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Nangarhar. Security officials reported destruction of brigade and corps headquarters, ammunition depots, and logistics bases. Taliban sources confirmed explosions in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar but denied any casualties.
Border front
Pakistani forces captured five Afghan posts in Paktia province, opposite South Waziristan, including positions near Shawal, Angoor Adda, and Zarmalan. The Afghan terminal at Angoor Adda was reportedly destroyed. Heavy exchanges were reported in Bajaur, Tirah, Chitral, Mohmand, Wali Khan, and Kurram sectors, with several Taliban check posts destroyed. Quadcopter drones allegedly used against Pakistani positions were shot down.
In Bajaur, mortar shells injured five civilians, including three women, and damaged a mosque. The injured were taken to Khar Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the nationwide drone ban remains in force until security stabilises, with enforcement directives already issued to all provinces.
